Yoga on the Island of Bali

with Suddha Weixler
November 21 - 28, 2015

"Bali evokes thoughts of paradise..."

BaliTerrace2

Lush rice terraces and a varied landscape of hills, romantic mountains, barren volcanos, colorful villages, rugged coastlines, and sandy beaches make magic. The Island of the Gods has a deeply spiritual and unique culture, adhered to Balinese Hinduism. It is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, music, sculpture, painting, metalworking, and fabrics.

One of the world's most popular islands, Bali offers something for everyone, from young backpackers to the luxury traveler. Balinese life is infused with religion and festivities. The Balinese are a friendly, hospitable people. We will stay in Ubud, Bali's artistic and cultural heart, offering fine dining, museums, galleries, palaces and temples, markets, spas, nestled among unbelievably green rice fields that spill down lush hillsides to rushing rivers below.

Ananda Ubud Cottages features tropical gardens and three swimming pools fed by natural spring water. Just a 25 minute walk from the village center, all rooms are air-conditioned, with modern conveniences and exotic garden bathrooms. The owner of the cottages, like his ancestors before him, was an assistant to the King of Ubud.

An open-air restaurant on site serves both European and Indonesian cuisine. The menu combines the finest traditional ingredients, local flavors, and the freshest produce. Breakfast is included. Lunch and dinner are not, as we may wish to visit a variety of inexpensive, delicious restaurants nearby.

After morning yoga practice and breakfast, we may sightsee, hike, swim at a spectacular beach, or visit a temple, museum, or gallery. Other activities include: on site lessons in Balinese music, dancing, painting, wood carving, batik, and cooking. And there is plenty of Shop-asana. In the evening one of the dance-music performances will be irresistable.

The cost of this trip is $1,430. This includes your room, double occupancy, breakfast, transfers, and yoga instruction. Not included: lunch, dinner, and air fare. We will travel as a group or help participants arrange their own air transportation. We encourage students to spend more time on the island if time allows, as we will only be able to experience some of the splendor. November is the quiet month, with nice warm temperatures, mid-60s to upper 80s.

Due to limited space and air travel early registration is encouraged If you have questions, please call.
