Meditation for well-being.

"Human beings want to feel alive and connected to life in meaningful ways. Meditation is the opening of the heart and mind to the joys and difficulties in our life."
Pema Chodron
Life is filled with joys and precious moments, as well as man y challenges. That is being human. It feels good when life is going our way. It is also human nature to experience feelings and sensations of uncertainty, fear, loss, grief, and anxiety.
Just like when you feel the impact of joy, love, or kindness on the mind and body, the same is true when you experience difficu lt feelings such as hurt, anger, and restlessness. The crossroads for many of us is that we don't know how to relate to the discomfor t of our inner experience when it doesn't feel good.
Meditation is the practice of coming into stillness and meeting what arises from within. It is the process of getting to know and becoming friends with being human.
By meeting our present moment experience, our thoughts, patterns, and habits have the potential to dissolve. A feeling of calm, compassion, and gentleness can then arise.
Each of us longs for a calm mind, relaxed body and an inner sense of well-being, but we don't know how to ease the mental noise and soothe the body into relaxation. During the introductory discussion about meditation you will learn:
- The framework for understanding your mind
- The process of developing a meditation practice through visualization
and breathing exercises
- How meditation can be an invitation to a deeper under-standing of yourself
and lead to a feeling of inner well-being

Carly's passion for yoga and meditation began in her early twenties. It evolved from her desire to live and relate to life genuinely, authentically, and peacefully. Carly's teaching is intuitively guided by the impact our outer life has on our inner experience. Her classes cultivate an inner understanding, balance and harmony in mind and body. Carly has been teaching yoga since 2003 and has increasingly integrated meditation along the way. She founded the Beverly Yoga Center in 2006 and lives in Chicago with her husband and two children. Carly continues to teach yoga and meditation classes,
lead retreats, and speak locally about cultivating and living a peaceful and happy life.
